Dental Implants Vs Dental Veneers

cosmetic dentistryLosing a tooth either due to an accident or decay can make you feel more like a pirate and less like a human. However, with dental options like dental  implants and dental veneers available, you can help to get your smile back and your self esteem as well. But how can you know what option is suitable for you and your teeth? Read on to learn more.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a great procedure to help fix any teeth that may have been lost due to decay or some sort of accident. And although the procedure is a bit lengthy, patients can reap these results for years and years to come.

The Procedure

  1. Once the original tooth has been removed and the gums have healed, a metal rod will be surgically implanted into the gums. This rod will act as an artificial root system to help anchor the tooth.
  2. After about 2-4 months of healing time, patients will go back into their dentist office to have a dental crown placed over the metal rod. This dental crown will act as a tooth.

Dental Veneers

Dental veneers give patients the option to not only fix a missing tooth but transform the rest of their smile as well. By having the ability to choose the shape, size, and color of your veneer, you can choose that dream smile that you’ve always wanted. However, typically running over $2,000 per dental veneer, this oral option might not be the best solution for everyone’s wallet.

The Procedure

  1. Your existing tooth will be filed down to a small point.
  2. The dental veneer will then be bonded to your existing tooth using a dental bond that is durable and safe to use in your mouth.

With these two types of dental options available to choose from, you don’t have to worry about never being able to chew or smile again. To learn more about dental implants and veneers, or to schedule an appointment, contact Dr. Zalavadia today!
